About the Conference

The 54th Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and associated events (EXCO, Women Parliamentarians Steering Committee, Small Branches Conference and the Society of Clerks-at-the-Table Meeting) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 1 to 10 August 2008.

Malaysian Minister and four Commonwealth Presiding Officers elected to top CPA posts. Hon. Dato’ Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, MP, Malaysia’s Minister of Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage, was elected to the three-year post in voting by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) on 9 August.
